We, the Willing
An Ode to Bon Soo
Forty-five years,
It’s been such a great time
How can I explain it?
Maybe, I’ll rhyme.
Opening night arrived
With the greatest of weather
Off we went as a community
Making history together!
On Brett!
On Robin!
On Lynda & Rose!
And bring the rest of the Board I suppose.
Follow Anna-Lisa
She knows what to do
If the position existed, she’d be MRS. Bon Soo
The financial institutions
Were all red and white
With their great Bon Soo spirit
Out in plain sight
Other businesses decorated
Schools did too,
It was clear that the Carnival
Had come to the Sault
OLG, OLG, they were something to see....
Our great title sponsor
They were there right beside us
There was nothing we needed they wouldn’t provide us
They brought us Michelle Wright
To sing us a song
And Volunteered their own people
to help us along
Mr. Bon Soo went on tour
On Robin he depends
He went here – there – and EVERYWHERE
Hugging his friends!
Sno Madness raged on -
Sometimes cold,
Sometimes funny,
But to capture the spirit with just one word:
Sonny.
VOLUNTEERS! VOLUNTEERS!
We just can’t say enough
You come from all over
To do Bon Soo stuff
Some old friends of the Carnival
And some who are new,
There just aren’t enough words,
Please accept our “THANK YOU”
TIM HORTONS! TIM HORTONS!
Hot chocolate galore!
They provided the bum slides for school visits
and more
at the park called
Wagons and dog pulls and
So much to do
Johnny and Ken
Our old friend Marcel
And of course there was Becky
With buttons to sell!
Trailblazers
Search & Rescue
The team from the College
The folks from the City with their
Patience and Knowledge
The Bum Slide Groups
Arrived in full force
with warm hearts,
with warm boots,
and great vests of course!
The Worlds Largest Snow Globe
A second look they did take,
Like one of those things you hold onto and shake!
Not just outside,
There is much more to do!
Many indoor events are a part of Bon Soo
There’s card parties
And skating
The fun doesn’t end
And darts at the Esquire – our very good friend
Essay writing
And pancakes
But let’s not forget
Fun with the folks at the great Nicolet!
The OHL All Stars
Played here mid-week
The crowd stood to cheer for
The East’s winning streak!
Curling?
Junior Nationals?
Yeah, they were here.
And a super addition to Bon Soo this year!
Our tale seems so happy,
And really, it was.
We had one little glitch on the 10th just because...
A BLIZZARD! A BLIZZARD!
Came down from the sky
for the first time in history
Polar Bear Swimmers stayed dry!!
The City was closed,
We all missed some events,
Our spirits were nipped at their highest,
hence...
We have energy left for a great big
THANK YOU!!
We’ll see you next year,
LONG LIVE BON SOO!!
